  1. 1

    Clear the tunnel

Do not pull extra warders into the boss room.

  2. 2

    Ground phase

Keep the raid off the tail and outside the frontal cone.

  3. 3

    Air phase

Spread for Deep Breath, kill whelps, and maintain ranged damage.

  4. 4

    Final phase

Handle fears, lava cracks, and renewed whelp pressure.

Boss mechanics

Assignments that prevent repeat wipes.

Start with the primary call, then assign tank, healer, and DPS responsibilities before the pull.

Boss encounter

Onyxia

Primary call: Phase 1 frontal breath and tail sweep.

Key mechanics

  • Phase 1 frontal breath and tail sweep.
  • Phase 2 whelps and Deep Breath.
  • Phase 3 fears and floor eruptions.
Tank

Face frontals away, stabilize boss position, and use a defensive for the listed tank-buster window.

Healer

Pre-position for unavoidable group damage, dispel listed effects, and call external defensives before overlaps.

DPS

Interrupt priority casts, swap to required adds or objects, and save burst for exposed or intermission windows.

Trash and route risks

What to stop between bosses.

  • Assign interrupts, dispels, and crowd control before each wing.
  • Use client-compatible boss mods and verify that custom scaling has not changed tank-buster timing.
  • Repair, rebuff, and update the raid note between wings rather than after the next pull.

Quests and unlocks

Do not leave rewards behind.

  • No standard Wrath attunement; verify any custom-server quest requirements.
