What Is WoW: Forever?

Blizzard describes World of Warcraft: Forever as a new, permanent home alongside modern WoW and Classic. It is a reimagined original Azeroth set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. You return to the original continents, level to 60, and keep progressing through new stories and updates instead of moving up an expansion ladder (Blizzard).

Game Informer summed it up as Blizzard "rewinding the clock to 2004 and halting it there" while expanding the vanilla experience with new zones, about 1,000 new quests across levels 1–60, and 9 additional dungeons (Game Informer).

Not to be confused with private servers: WoW: Forever is official Blizzard software. If you play on servers like TheraWoW, see our best WoW private servers 2026 comparison. The Syndicate runs communities in both.

Launch Time in Your Time Zone

Blizzard lists the global launch as November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST (Blizzard). US daylight saving time ends November 1, so these are the standard-time conversions:

RegionLaunch time
US Pacific (PST)Wed, Nov 4 — 3:00 p.m.
US Mountain (MST)Wed, Nov 4 — 4:00 p.m.
US Central (CST)Wed, Nov 4 — 5:00 p.m.
US Eastern (EST)Wed, Nov 4 — 6:00 p.m.
UK (GMT)Wed, Nov 4 — 11:00 p.m.
Central Europe (CET)Thu, Nov 5 — 12:00 a.m.

Choose Your Ruleset (The Most Important Launch Decision)

Forever replaces the realm list with rulesets. Each ruleset is a broad shared ecosystem with its own community (Blizzard).

RulesetBest forKey rule
NormalQuesting, exploring, and opt-in PvPCreate both Horde and Alliance characters
PvPContested zones and open-world conflictOne faction only: an Alliance character locks out Horde on that ruleset, and vice versa
RoleplayingImmersion and like-minded adventurersCreate both factions
HardcoreOne-life challengeArrives after launch; fully enclosed; a dead character can transfer to another ruleset

Why this matters for guilds: you cannot freely move between rulesets, and characters on different rulesets cannot group for dungeons or raids. Battlegrounds may mix rulesets, except Hardcore. Horde and Alliance still cannot group together (Blizzard).

The takeaway: agree on a ruleset and faction with your guild before you create a character. Picking wrong means rerolling.

Editions and Pricing

The base game is included with your WoW subscription. The paid packs mainly add the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle, plus cosmetics, as reported by Blizzard Watch:

OptionPrice (USD)Highlights
Subscription / Game Time$0 extraThe revamped world and most of the new content; no Skyborne
Skyborne Heroic PackAbout $30Skyborne race and Zephras Isle, Cerulean Prideclaw mount, cosmetics, Early Name Reservation
Skyborne Epic PackAbout $60Everything in Heroic, plus beta access, 30 days of Game Time, extra cosmetics, and pets
Warcraft Forever CollectionAbout $80Everything in Epic, plus Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign

Blizzard also lists a physical Collector's Edition through the Gear Store while supplies last (Blizzard).

Our take: if you're unsure, start on the base subscription. You can enjoy most of Forever without a pack. Buy a pack if you specifically want to play Skyborne at launch or want an early shot at your character name.

New Race and Class Combinations

Almost every race gains at least one new class option. Night Elf and Tauren are the exceptions (Icy Veins):

RaceNew class options
HumanHunter
DwarfShaman
GnomePriest
OrcMage
UndeadPaladin
TrollWarlock
Skyborne (Alliance)Warrior, Hunter, Mage, Rogue, Druid
Skyborne (Horde)Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid, Shaman

How to Pick Your Main

  • Pick the role your group needs. Tanks and healers get dungeon groups fastest during launch week. If you enjoy either role, it is the quickest path to gear.
  • Plan for the December 9 raids. Barrow Deeps is a 10-player raid, so small guilds need a full role spread (tank, healers, DPS) within about five weeks of launch.
  • Don't chase beta balance. Classes, talents, and racials were still being adjusted during beta. Choose a class you'll enjoy for a long time, since Forever is permanent.
  • Pair your professions with a friend. Coordinate gathering and crafting pairs so your group isn't buying everything on the Auction House.

Coming from TheraWoW or another WotLK server? Your raid fundamentals transfer, but Forever is a level-60 game with Classic pacing. Browse our build library for role basics.

The Launch-Week Plan

Before November 4: Prep Checklist

  • Confirm your subscription or Game Time is active through at least launch week.
  • Install and update the Battle.net client early. Don't wait until launch afternoon to download.
  • Decide your ruleset and faction with your guild. This is the one choice you can't undo without rerolling.
  • Pick a main, a backup name, and your professions. Write down two or three name options.
  • If you bought a pack, watch for Early Name Reservation around October 27.
  • Plan your launch night. In US Central, gates open at 5:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. Block the evening if you want to be in the first wave.

Launch Night: First Hours

  • Log in a few minutes early, and expect queues and crowded starting zones on a brand-new ruleset.
  • Group up with guildmates immediately. Shared quest tags in packed zones beat soloing.
  • Pick up your gathering professions early so you level them while questing.

Days 1–7: Leveling and Organizing

  • Level in small groups along the same route, and use new dungeons as group XP checkpoints.
  • Guild officers should track who's playing which class and role, and fill gaps early.
  • Bank gold for your mount and training costs. Don't overspend on early gear you'll replace within hours.

Weeks 2–5: Road to the December 9 Raids

  • Reach 60, then run level-60 dungeons as a team for gear, reputation, and crafting materials.
  • Build a 10-player core for Barrow Deeps first, then grow toward 20 for Hyjal Summit.
  • Set a fixed weekly raid night before December 9 so people can plan around it.

Play WoW: Forever with The Syndicate

The Syndicate is building its Forever roster now. We're organizing leveling groups, profession pairs, dungeon teams, and raid leadership before launch, all in the same Discord that connects our Midnight and TheraWoW communities. Our officers will confirm the guild's Forever ruleset and faction in Discord before launch.
