Midnight · Character Races

Picking a race in Midnight.

Short version: racials are a rounding error in Midnight — pick the character you want to look at for the next two years. Longer version below, including the expansion's headline addition.

NewAllied Race

The Haranir

Midnight's new allied race: bioluminescent ancient hunters from the fungal jungle of Harandar. Neutral — one character can group with either faction's crew.

  • Classes: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior
  • Unlock: complete the max-level Midnight campaign
  • Druid flavor: unique forms — werebear, humanoid owl, and lynx shapes
NewCombo

Void Elf Demon Hunters

Midnight opened the Demon Hunter class to Void Elves through a questline — a natural fit for the new Void-flavored Devourer spec.

GuildRule

The Syndicate rule of thumb

We never bench anyone over a racial. If you care about the last half-percent, a handful of racials still sim ahead for specific specs — check the guild Discord for the current list. Everyone else: pick the silhouette you love.

Practical notes

Things that actually matter.

Faction matters less than ever — cross-faction guilds, instanced grouping, and the neutral Haranir mean the crew plays together regardless. Racial transmog restrictions and heritage armor are the real long-term cosmetic considerations.

Race-changing later costs money; class-changing does not exist. If you are torn, decide the class first with the Midnight build hub, then pick the race that fits it.

Quick picks

  • Want the new hotness: Haranir (after the campaign unlock).
  • Want it on day one: any core race — you can reroll cosmetics later.
  • Demon Hunter fan: Void Elf is finally on the table.
  • Druid collector: Haranir forms are the standout set this expansion.
